Exogen was a guitar trio created and founded by Marco William Duranti and Francesco Zarrillo and shortly after joined by Alessio Giustini in 1997. The idea behind this project was to recreate a 70's style rock band, but only with acoustic guitars. This was a rather nostalgic approach and retained certain sounds and musical construction that well reflected the 70's very creative era, as well as the love for making concept albums that basically took one topic and narrated the idea through the individual songs. The main idea was not to just point the finger at somebody, but to really look in the mirror and start from ourselves.
released in 1998 was their first effort. The concept CD was about people and their feelings in general, a journey through hope, love, fear, indifference and misunderstandings just to mention a few, with the main concept of emptiness without love.
released in 2000 is a concept CD about religions and our fear and love relation towards God and the search for personal truth. This is not a personal view on religion, but just an observation of some of our behaviour with such a delicate subject mainly from a Christian point of view. However while listening to the CD, Marco William Duranti's admiration for Jesus Christ becomes quite obvious in certain parts of different songs. Curiously enough some death frets and insults were received over the internet, probably by people that did not really understand the concept and did not realise that the main message was, believe in what you want and achieve happiness, but don't bring harm to others and help your fellow men.
released in 2002 is the last Exogen concept CD. This last effort is about cloning not just physical as Dolly the sheep, but also mental cloning and the flatness it has created in our society, it is a shout against the politically correct idealism that seriously undermines individuality with the mere excuse of deciding right from wrong with no chance to appeal......just obey obviously favouring what is convenient for the giant rulers such as certain institutions we all know too well.
is a return to Marco's lifetime passion the Classical Guitar. A delightful collection of famous classical guitar transcriptions and compositions by J. S Bach, Heitor Villa Lobos, F. Sor and John Perrone as well as original pieces written by Marco William Duranti himself.
Notte negli Occhi
is a series of musical compositions (some of which used for commercials and short films). It was co-written with talented musician Mirko Speranzi, Marco's good friend and probably will not be the last project. This is a great collection of musical pieces that vary from a very light hearted melodies to more complex musical compositions.
